hi everybody welcome to CJ's Kito
kitchen my name is Sarah and today we
are going to be making a low-carb
ketogenic dish and it's called chili dog
casserole so come along with me and we
will prepare it and get it in the oven
so we can all eat dinner okay we're
going to start with one pound of ground
beef and it can be any percentage I
happen to like the higher fat because
it's better on keto and we're gonna
Brown it up right here in the pan next
we're going to chop up one green bell
pepper and one onion as fine as you'd
like and we're going to brown them in
another pan I have melted one tablespoon
of butter in a separate pan and I have
chopped the onion and the green pepper
and so we're just going to saute those
and not necessarily Brown I'm just kind
of make them translucent just give them
a nice
okay I have added the sauteed green
pepper and onion to the ground beef and
now we are gonna start adding our spices
and add your chili spices individually
so the recipe says you can do your own
chili seasoning or you can go ahead and
use a chili seasoning pouch any brand
will do i'm using Lowery's today and you
put in two tablespoons so i have that
here then you're also going to need a
half a teaspoon of celery seed a
teaspoon of Worcestershire sauce I'm
adding a little bit of cayenne pepper
because we like it spicy but you can
omit that if you do not care for that
you also need about a tablespoon of
sweetener and because we're making this
a keto dish this is your route all you
just want to stir that around until it's
well coated then we're going to be
adding some tomato products the first
one is 1 cup of regular tomato sauce and
then we are also going to be adding 1
tablespoon of tomato paste and I'm using
the ready pouch by Hunts and this has 2
tablespoons in it so I'm going to use
half the package
so we want to stir that around really
well to get the paste to combine and now
we are going to add one cup of water so
one cup of water is going in and then we
are going to stir this all around and
let it simmer for a few minutes to
combine and then we'll be ready to
assemble the casserole
okay we are ready to assemble I have a 9
by 13 inch pan I'll show you the
prepared sauce that's what it looks like
when it's ready to go so I like to take
a little bit of sauce and put it in the
bottom of the pan and spread it around
just evenly on the bottom of the pan I
also like to take a little bit of cheese
and I'm just going to be using already
shredded cheese in a pouch the recipe
actually calls for two cups total but it
also notes that if you like it extra
cheesy you can go ahead and add some
species you like so I'm going to
sprinkle some on the bottom now the
recipe calls for eight hotdogs but I
usually double that and it also says
that you can slice them lengthwise and
kind of lay them out in that way but I
find that it's easier to eat for our
family if I cut them up like this so I
have 16 hotdogs instead of eight because
we like it me and I'm just using Oscar
Mayer beef weiners because they are less
than one carb per hotdog I'm going to
add some more cheese at this point you
like it easy
and I'm going to top with the remaining
chili and I will spread it around evenly
and I get it all in there and we are
going to bake this at 400 degrees for
about 20 to 30 minutes and of course
more cheese
so we have it all ready to go and I have
preset the oven to 400 so now we are
going to put it in the oven for about 30
minutes and I like it on for a half hour
nice and golden bubbly
