name is Kristy and today I had a keto
related video for you this is all about
the Aldi zero net carb bread that's out
and I have got tons of requests to do a
blood sugar slash ketone test to see if
it spikes at my insulin sorry about the
noise The Electric Company decided to
put up a brand new electric pole today
but I want to go ahead and get this in
and upload it for you guys so you'll
know the results if you're not already

today's video is going to be all about
these two bad boys sorry these are going
to be a little frosty looking because I
had them in the freezer I keep them
there until we need them but let's go
over all the hype about the Aldi zero
net cart bread
there are currently two different types
out they have the multi seed bread and
it is the one with the orange label and
they also have the wheat which has the
red label at my store these run about a
349 apiece on the very front you can see
that it says it has 5 grams of protein
per serving serving is one slice of
bread 9 grams of fiber and zero net
carbs and down below it if you can see
that it says zero guilt right on the
front of the package right here they've
already put keto friendly just so you
know let's go over some of these
ingredients I haven't previously so
let's hope I can pronounce them all in
this we have a modified wheat starch
water wheat gluten wheat protein isolate
oat fiber chicory fiber sunflower seeds
flax seed meal soybean oil wheat brand
yeast vinegar salt and preservatives yes
this does contain wheat and it is not
gluten free also important to note is
the macros on here like I already said
one slice equals one
serving so I guess it's going to be
open-faced sandwich from now on you do
get 45 calories of per piece of bread 1
total fat 9 carbs with 9 fiber which
will give you zero net carbs and you
have five protein this one is the wheat
and it's pretty much the same as far as
the ingredients go except it takes out
the nuts that are in the seated bread so
again in today's video we will be
testing this for blood sugar and ketone
levels to see if they spiked or if it
affects me in any level and if you
watched my other ones you know I spike
easily so we're going to start out first
thing in the morning be prepared for bed
head and morning face and swollen eyes
because that's what you're going to see
first thing in the morning I did not
have anything to drink this morning I
didn't even have water so it went
straight in to the test I did not have
the bread just plain I guess you'd say
no I had it playing I didn't put
anything on it but I did eat it toasted
because I'm not just a non toasted bread
kind of girl so we're going to toast a
piece of bread to get started and let's
see what happens
you guys have seen this in the past this
is the Kido mojo this one is a ketone
monitor and a blood glucose monitor it
comes up with your little monitor and
you get some strips I think I have a

also comes with the Lancet and some
little needles so that you can poke your
finger does it come with these alcohol
pads so let's go ahead we'll look at the
time I know my phone is filthy it is
8:36 and you can see that today is the
15th and then my beautiful children I
have my notepad here because I'm gonna
have to keep notes you know I can't
remember anything anymore
the first thing I'm gonna do is clean my
finger okay let's get started we're
gonna see what my blood sugar is before
I even have anything and again I showed
you guys that it is around 8:40 now not
my favorite thing to do the doctor
always told us if mom was a diabetic to
always to wipe off at the first blood
and go with the second so that's what
we're going to do you know what I think
I'll even lop off the second and go with
the third okay let's check out my blood
sugar first thing this morning for some
reason I'm extremely shaky you know if
you guys can see that or not it is very
naughty so in the morning at eight forty
eight forty eight thirty nine actually I
am at a blood sugar of 90 and just for
reference let's check the ketone level
and see where that's at 0.5 so I am
still in ketosis and I'm not eat the
bread yet
let's eat it see what happens now hello
meerkat what are you doing this morning
huh so the bread that I
to go with is the zero net carbs a multi
seed bread they have a wheat and multi
seed I'm going with this one because
this is the one I've got laid out the
other ones are still frozen it's someone
with the red label we've went over all
of the information and I'm toasting it
because I like my bread toasted I'm just
not one of these people who were always
just a regular bread eater I won't put
anything on this of course so we're just
gonna eat it like this
what it will look like let me show you
what a piece looks like that's not
toasted but those of you that have not
watched my other videos where we talk
about bread my hands are clean you can
see the seeds in it I think it's like it
looks like sunflower seeds and it popped
up not toasted to my satisfaction you're
going back down okay now we're toasted
and I'm just going to go ahead and eat
this I want you to hear how crispy it
gets okay yes it's early morning and I
have bed head in bed face and swollen
eyes and everything else but I wanted to
talk to you about the toast while I'm
eating it not gonna lie to you amazing
people this stuff is not the best just
plain and toasted but when you slather
it with butter and you put Mayo deli
meat and cheese on it it's good but
eating it plain now I'm realizing this
is horrible don't suggest eating it
plain okay so I don't know if you can
see that it's 848 I have finished the
bread is probably in my teeth and
everywhere else while I'm digesting this
and it's getting into my bloodstream I'm
gonna go ahead and clean up upload a
video and do a few things basically just
put some makeup on and pull my hair up
in a bun and then I'll be back in a
thirty minutes I'm gonna do like a
30-minute a one hour a one and a half
hour will throw in as many checks as we
can get just to see what happens so
cross your fingers anybody that likes to
have a sandwich that this does not
affect my blood sugar
are you gonna test your blood ketones
huh huh do you want to know if your
blood sugar spiked you got my seat while
I got it and let me say this again I
really had to choke down that bread not
good by itself definitely needs other
things with it it was like eating cotton
and sawdust and I think it's still stuck
right here oh okay let me go get in the
shower
ok 9 and 26 and this is our first test I
did manage to go ahead and take a shower
and put some foundation on I still have
a few more minutes let's go with a
different finger this time I'm gonna
clean it with alcohol okay go ahead and
put this in this one is before the blood
glucose now I'm clean off at the first
blood and then we'll go with the second
sure I get enough 91 the honey one at
the first test that's not bad I can
handle that and then you can see my
other I didn't check on the last one
what my HCT and HP and all that good
stuff lies but only a one point spike at
this point after one serving of the
bread I can handle that okay I don't
know if you checked out any of my other
blood glucose test results the one with
the zip is the smart cakes or the bang
the bang did spike my blood sugar and
after research there are several things
in that that can spike blood sugar via
Thomas de Lauer all of his videos helped
educate me on that I did stop drinking
it but not because of the things they
could spike my blood sugar it was
basically because I started having
migraines again and caffeine and can't
affect my migraines it is a trigger for
me
so at 91 after it's been probably about
40 minutes actually for me because I got
caught up putting a little bit of
foundation on and stuff that's not
really bad so I'm going to check it at
the one hour mark again just to make
sure and I'm gonna try to get back on
track with that the monitor just turned
off again this will be linked below if
you are interested in a blood glucose
slash a ketone monitor make sure you do
your research
there are a few of these out on the
market ketone monitors and they have
mixed reviews so I'm not going to
recommend one I just like this one
because it has the glucose monitor and I
like to check my glucose way more than I
do my ketones
949 I'm trying to get back on track
because the most important thing isn't
the 30 minute check in my opinion the
most important thing is the 1 hour check
so I showed you the time I'm going to go
ahead and clean up yet a different
finger here is my blood glucose strip
putting that in and let's go ahead and
do this yeah I've got it on the least
one cuz you know I don't have calluses
on my finger go ahead and sorry wipe off
the first blood and squeeze it and here
we go ready this is the 1 hour mark you
guys see them hold up before you make
sure you can see it 85 which means my
blood sugar has went down and if you
watched my other videos you know that
doesn't happen often so 85 at the 1 hour
mark okay let's go ahead and recap while
I'm sitting here and we're waiting for
the 2 hour because that's when I'll go
next
so 8:40 a.m. this morning I took my
fasting blood sugar and it was 90 and
that was before I ate anything and my
ketones were at a 0.5 so my next test
was going to be at 30 minutes and I got
caught up getting ready it went to 926
which was about 45 minutes or so we
checked my blood sugar after that amount
of time and it was at 91 ok so we went
from 90 the first check 91 and then the
1 hour mark it went down to 85 which
means I have dropped 5 points that since
my fasting blood sugar this morning what
does that tell me
this does not affect my blood glucose
levels so far I am going to check again
at 2 hours but I'm not sure how it's
going to affect my ketones so what I'm
going to do is wait till the two hour
mark because I really don't feel an
impact experience when I check my
ketones something doesn't automatically
just knock me out of ketosis it does
take a little while
basically I think it's during the
digestive process or something so I
think I would be closer to being knocked
out of ketosis if I'm
when two at two hours than I would at
half an hour or one hour okay I will see
you at the two-hour mark but so far so
good
again I want to apologize profusely but
I want to get this recorded for you guys
so it could get loud 10 a 51 so we are
hitting the two-hour mark let's go ahead
clean off yet a different finger and go
ahead and check it ok ready you can see
there yeah 80 well apparently it's
making my blood sugar go way down
instead of spiking it's ok show you guys
it's still the same time 10 253 a few
seconds dimmer and we're gonna check my
ketone levels now to see what's happened
there this one takes just a little
longer I'm not sure if you can see it or
not yeah there you go
0.7 so it did not knock me out of
ketosis and for some reason that my
blood sugar didn't go up but it did drop
significantly let's talk about that okay
there is this thing called the dawn
effect and it can mean that your blood
sugar can be higher in the morning than
it could be throughout the day if it's
not spiked and in about six months into
keto
I noticed that mine started doing that
normally my blood sugar runs in the 70s
this was way before I ever started doing
the ketogenic lifestyle so I would get
up if I was tested at my blood sugar it
would be in the 70-75 or so again like I
said at about six months into the
ketogenic lifestyle my fasting blood
sugar was higher
not sure why I know what the issue is
with the dawn effect I guess I could do
more research but I'm okay with that my
main objective is with foods to find the
ones that don't affect my blood sugar it
is apparent to me that this one does not
affect my blood glucose level we are not
a spiked and it doesn't affect my
ketones apparently they went up so let
me give a disclaimer my disclaimer is
this what may affect my blood sugar may
not affect yours and vice versa it is
important to check things like this
especially in the beginning or if you
question a specific food that you're
eating I'm not a doctor nurse
practitioner or physician assistant so
make sure you do your research on all
this stuff figure out what's gonna work
for you I'm just glad that it didn't
affect my blood sugar and I can keep
eating bread again I will not be eating
this by itself or just toasted it will
be toasted slathered with butter a Mayo
a deli meat and cheese or avocado toast
that sounds good doesn't it make sure
you check yours out and see how it's
going to affect you but so far so good
